alison and i were on the same 5th grade team last year and she was a joy to work with during my first year of teaching. i was so excited when she asked me to shoot her wedding that took place just a couple of weeks ago. she and wes decided to get married at jordan lake...at a small little secluded area of the lake. it was the perfect location for the sweet and personal ceremony.
i took a few pictures before we headed to the lake...
alison's sweet dad showing some emotions before having the privilege of walking her down the beach to where the ceremony would take place.
i couldn't help but take this shot of alison's parents looking on...
the fitzgerald's contacted me about taking some family portraits for them so that they could choose one to give to their parents for their anniversary this month. we had a great time at the arboretum in raleigh. they were such a fun group to work with and hadn't done any family portraits since before the youngest was born, so i was anxious to capture their personalities now that they're all grown up!
thank you to samantha and the rest of the clan for allowing me to be a part of your lives for a short time!
alison and shaun decided to see each other before the ceremony so that we would have plenty of time to take pictures and so that there wouldn't be a huge gap of time between the ceremony and when they arrived at the reception. this made for some fun pictures of them seeing each other for the first time before we really began shooting. i think she's pretty excited, don't you??
i want to take time to say that alison was my bible study leader through campus crusade during my senior year at nc state. our group had the opportunity to kind of watch alison and shaun fall for each other, wait on the Lord, and eventually see them get married in august. it was such an honor to be able to photograph their wedding. doesn't she look beautiful? it was an awesome day.
shaun and his 2 sons - and their "game face!"
here we go!
seconds after the recessional:
before you look at these pictures from the reception, just know that alison LOVES dancing!
come alongside of me as i take you through the process of choosing the name of this company. have you ever thought about the pressure of something so permanent? i mean, i guess it doesn't have to stay the same forever, but at least for a while! it has to be something that you can look at and hear out loud over and over again and never get tired of it. i don't know about you, but i found that to be rather difficult.
i knew i liked the sound of alliteration in the name, but i didn't want to use a "ph" word. and i didn't want a camera-like word. no offense to any photography company that uses capture or other similar words in their name, but that's just not me. i wanted it to be different. so i began to think of "f" words that i actually liked. (let's keep it appropriate here.) really the ONLY word i could think of that i liked the sound of and the look of was furnish. everytime i tried to think of another word, i always came back to this one word.
so i figured there probably needed to be some kind of reasoning behind why my company had that word in the title, right? so i began to read up a little bit on the word. the definition that i found said:
fur·nish - to provide; to equip with what is needed; to supply; to give.
coincidental that i would have the same thoughts about what i'd like to do as a photographer? i think not. my goal is, that as your photographer, i will provide you with exactly what you've envisioned and more. i want to give of my time and energy in order to supply you with images that you won't want to put down.
so when you walk away from my camera, i hope you leave feeling furnished.
