carter & raleigh

you've already met carter in the previous post, but now i introduce you to his brother raleigh, as well as their sweet parents. heather and philip were some of my youth leaders back in high school and i am so thankful for the influence that they had on my life during those years. it's been a joy to watch their family grow and still get to catch up on each others' lives every once in a while. we decided to do the shoot at their home and it really paid off! the boys were so comfortable and loved on each other the whole time. between pictures carter would shout "to infinity...and beyond!" and take a lap around the whole front yard. can you tell he's out of breath in almost every picture? ;-) it won't be long before raleigh will be taking those laps with him...

his eyes will take your breath away.
he is delicate.
he could be a model.

hello preciousness.

i'm not really sure if preciousness is a word, but that is how i would describe my time with these boys. in fact, in a few years they probably will not want to be called precious at all! we did have a sweet time together at bass lake as mom and dad watched their boys run through the sand, make each other laugh, and throw each other to the ground. will and charlie took me to all their favorite places around the lake and chose some great spots for us to take pictures. although these guys are looking all cute in their outfits, they are all boy inside! we had a blast.

so you may have been wondering...

...who do those feet belong to in the preview post? well, after pushing the shoot back about an hour to see if just maybe the rain would hold off long enough for us to have some fun together, we met at fletcher park in downtown raleigh in time for the sky to open up...and water the earth. did it keep us from shooting? NO WAY. we hopped from spot to spot around that park as if we didn't even know we were wet. and boy did it pay off. we had a great time together and got some even greater pictures to show for it! meet the mcclure's...a family that i used to babysit for when avery was just a baby! oh, how they've grown! it was a joy spending some time with them again. :)

so today i've had a break from school. a wednesday off. and for 90% of the time i've been working on photography things. these things are things that i've needed to do for a long time concerning photography:

-finish editing from shoots that i've done over the past month.
-teach myself more about photoshop, including how to watermark my images.
-catch up on finances for the company.
-spend time thinking about and creating what is to come next with furnished.

those of you who know me know that i will try to do something for hours before i ask someone to help me. it's just me. i like being able to do things. and usually when it takes me hours, i figure out lots of other cool things along the way that i probably wouldn't have learned if someone had walked me through it step my step. and so it has been with photography. teaching myself. and i like it. but i'm beginning to think that maybe i should be more efficient with my time. it's just a thought. we'll see what happens.

here's a little evidence of one of the things i completed today...

stay tuned for some fun things to come in the next couple of months!

i'm loving it.

well, it's finally fall...and it finally feels like fall and i am so, so, so excited about it! it looks like my rainbows are heading toward storage for the fall/winter season. (we'll see how long that lasts!) and in photography, i'm learning that the fall season not only brings beautiful leaves that are my favorite, but it also brings out all of these amazing families as well. i can't wait to introduce you further to these 2 precious families, but here's a little taste of what is to come. (and even more families to come in the next few weeks...) enjoy! :)
