kind words

If you are looking for a photographer that will take wonderful pictures with a personal touch…you have found your match!  My fiancĂ© and I wanted to have engagement pictures taken in an area that was special to us and Katherine was more than willing to work with us.  Her ideas combined with the various settings made for great pictures that truly illustrated our relationship.  To top it off, we saw a “sneak peek” later that day and received our DVD of pictures a couple of weeks later!  Katherine, of Furnished Photography, has been blessed with a gift of taking amazing photos and I guarantee you will be pleased with her work!

We have been so fortunate to work with Furnished Photography three times now. Katherine has captured just about every special moment of ours for the last few years...and we wouldn't have chosen anyone else. From engagement to maternity to baby pictures, Katherine has been so attentive to our desires for our family photos.
--Seth and Jill Wachtel

I had looked at the Furnished Photography blog for a while before I even got engaged, so there was no question who I wanted photographing my wedding. After getting engaged and booking Furnished Photography, Katherine was amazing to work with. She met with us several times and really tried to get to know my then-fiance and I so that she would be able to capture pictures in a style that we wanted. She took my vision for traditional pictures, mixed it with her love for candid moments, and provided me with images that tell the story of my entire wedding day. Everything was perfect -- from the lighting, the backgrounds, and the poses -- Katherine is so creative behind her camera and I hope to definitely use Furnished Photography in the future.

Furnished Photography did our engagement session and we couldn't have been happier with the results. Katherine captured more than just a pretty picture, but the love and celebration of our new engagement. We are looking forward to many more photo sessions.

the photographer

i remember my first nikon coolpix camera. i knew i liked it, but i don't think i knew where it would lead me in the future. my name is katherine fallis and i'm a photographer. here are some things about me:

  • i desire to serve God in all that i do.
  • i am passionate about people.
  • i see things in angles and lines.
  • i am simple.
  • i wear rainbow sandals almost everyday.
  • i like to make people laugh.
  • i enjoy taking pictures.
  • i choose to read non-fiction before fiction.
  • i think very realistically, but am learning how to cast vision.
  • i want to be more of a risk-taker.
  • i am thankful for life.

about five years ago i found myself in a place of decision. i had recently shot some engagement pictures for a friend of mine and felt a passion for photography within. could i do this more often? with encouragement from friends and family (and a lot of other things coming together), i began this business - furnished photography. thank you to all of you who have boosted my confidence, listened to my frustrations, taught me about post-processing, answered photography questions through email, helped me to gain somewhat of a business mind-set, let me take pictures of you just for fun, and so much more. none of this could have ever happened without your help. and i mean that. i appreciate each and every one of you.

take care.

sweet annie AND an announcement.

annie, a good friend from home, and her husband brandon agreed to a maternity shoot at wrightsville beach a couple of weeks ago. i'm trying to build my portfolio and was desperate for some preggo shots. they were the perfect pair for what i wanted in the shoot and i couldn't be more excited about how they are turning out! thanks annie and brandon! :)

and before i go, i know, my blogging has been awful. i apologize. i've been shooting a lot, and editing a lot, which leaves only a little bit of time for my blog. i don't mean to neglect it, but i think that since i'm working on a new blogsite that will make its debut in september (YAY!), i haven't been as into this one as i probably should be.

SOOOOO...for those of you that are blog readers and love looking at photographers' sites, i need your help! leave a comment, with the URL to a site that you enjoy looking at and what you like about it. it'll help as i continue to create what i hope to be a great way for you to keep up with my photography online. don't be shy! let me know your thoughts.
